How to Perform Your First Email Audit?

How to Perform Your First Email Audit?

Email Audit is a powerful feature that helps you understand how your campaign, when sent from the desired sender with your third party email marketing applications (eg. Mailchimp, Instantly etc), will perform in terms of inbox placement and other deliverability factors.

The email audit scores your test campaign on various parameters, allowing you to identify areas for improvement to enhance deliverability and ensure your emails reach the inbox.

Prerequisites

Before performing your first email audit, it's essential to have your sender email ID and domain verified. You can find instructions on how to do that here: XemailAudit Resources.

Once verified, follow these step-by-step instructions to perform your first email audit:

3 Ways to Perform an Email Audit

1. Manual Email Audit - From Email Account

This method requires manually sending a test email from your mailbox or marketing tool.

  1. Navigate to Email Audit in the left menu.

  2. Click on the Run Test Audit + button at the top right.

  3. Follow the instructions:

    • Name your test campaign for easy tracking.

    • Copy the provided test code and paste it into the Subject line of your email.

    • Use your mailbox or marketing tool (HubSpot, Klaviyo, Instantly, etc.) to send the email.

    • In the To field, enter the recipient addresses provided by XemailAudit.

  4. Send the email from your mailbox or marketing tool.

  5. Return to XemailAudit and click View Report to generate your audit report.

Congratulations! You have successfully performed an email audit.

If your audit report suggests changes to improve deliverability, you may want to automate the audit process for ongoing monitoring.

2. Automated Email Audit

This method allows you to schedule automatic audits and receive reports without manual intervention.

  1. Navigate to Email Audit and select the Automatic Test tab.

  2. Click on Run Test Email+ at the top.

  3. Follow the instructions:

    • Give your campaign a name.

    • Select your sender email ID. If itโ€™s not in the dropdown list, add the sender first: How to Add a Sender Email to XemailAudit.

    • Enter the subject line and email body.

    • Choose the days you want to schedule the audit.

  4. Click Run Test to schedule the audit.

  5. View generated reports under Email Audit >> Automatic Test. Use filters in the top right for easy access.

3. Email Audit from Mailchimp

If you use Mailchimp as your marketing platform, you can directly perform email audits within XemailAudit.

How to Integrate Mailchimp with XemailAudit?

  1. Navigate to Email Audit >> From Marketing Platform.

  2. Click on Connect Your Marketing Platform and select Mailchimp.
